NYC guide: Christmas edition

nys Christmas

There’s always a lot to see in NYC, but the city is especially beautiful around Chrismas time or as some would argue: the most wonderful time of the year. Bellow you’ll find a few attractions that you really shouldn’t miss when in New York around this time of the year.

Go to the Rockettes

Every year there’s a big show at Radio City Musical Hall. People travel far and wide for it! “The Christmas Spectacular Starring The Radio City Rockettes” is an amazing show for the whole family. Many parents take their kids, but it’s just as impressive as grown up. I was there with a friend and we were simply blown away. A big life orchestra, dance and sing performances, fabulous costumes and an amazing set await you. Definitely worth it!

Go ice skating in Bryant Park

Located right behind New York Public Library, this park is hard to miss! Around Christmas time there’s a beautiful Winter village with a lot of cute little shops set up. In the middle of them is a big skating rink where you can skate for free! As it fills up quickly it is advised to reserve skating time online – you can borrow skates there, this however is not free.

If ice skating is not your thing, take a stroll past the cute shops in wood huts that are set up or get some mulled wine or hot chocolate in one of the tents.

Look at the tree at Rockefeller center

The Christmas Tree at Rockefeller center is world famous. Christmas lights and decoration surround the whole square and even as you walk up to it, you will feel Christmas in the air. Combine it with a stroll down Fifth Avenue to have a look at the elaborate shop windows and let it take you to our next destination.

Watch the display on Saks Fifth Avenue

Fifth Avenue is known for its extravagant window displays. One shop takes it even further: Saks Fifth Avenue not only has amazingly elaborate window displays, but also a big lightning show with music. Located right next to the Rockefeller center, it’s impossible to miss. Definitely worth stopping by! And don’t forget to go in because the show doesn’t stop outside, it goes with you while you walk inside and shop at Saks Fifth Avenue.
